Ganesh Himal Trading, Nepal
Vishnu Maya weaves for Ganesh Himal

Since 1984, Ganesh Himal, a Fair Trade Federation member, has been supplying shops and retail customers in the U.S. with high quality, handcrafted clothing, jewelry, textiles, and paper. Ganesh imports directly from small cottage industries in Nepal, including development projects working to improve the lives of Tibetan refugees and women. Their goal has always been to support work that enhances people's lives and traditions. Working directly with the producers as a team, Ganesh focuses on expanding one anothers' talents and building on ideas.

Artisan Story - Vishnu Maya
Vishnu Maya never had the opportunity to get an education herself, but she works with ACP (Association of Craft Producers) so that she can send her three daughters to school. Ganesh Himal Trading produces all of its textiles through ACP.

Vishnu has been working with ACP for 18 years now as a weaving group leader. Her husband is also a weaver for ACP and together they work to create the opportunities for their daughters that they never had. They want their children to have plenty of time to study, in addition to passing down their family's tradition of weaving.
